Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Utilities Crew Chief to supervise a small crew and oversee the installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of water, sewer, and gas utility facilities. Safety and efficiency are emphasized, with certification requirements and ongoing training expected.

Candidates should have a HS/GED, 2+ years of relevant experience, and a wastewater/water competency certification (C or higher). CDL Class A and gas certs are preferred or obtainable within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Certified “C” in wastewater and water competency or higher.
• Gas certification (O-Q) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew of 2–3 service persons, ensuring safety and timely completion of tasks.
• Oversee installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of water, sewer, and gas utilities.
• Operate excavation and related equipment; maintain tools and machinery.
• Complete and manage work orders; attend safety meetings and training sessions.
