Candidates should have a HS/GED, 2+ years of relevant experience, and a wastewater/water competency certification (C or higher). CDL Class A and gas certs are preferred or obtainable within 6 months of hire.

The City of Tomball is accepting applications for a Utilities Crew Chief. The role will be responsible for supervising a crew, guiding them in the installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of the City-owned water, sewer, and gas utility facilities. As an experienced professional, the Crew Chief is entrusted with critical decision-making responsibilities, emphasizing job safety and efficient task completion.Reports To Utilities SuperintendentPositions Supervised Utilities ServicepersonUtilities Crew Chief functions include but are not limited to the following.Lead Supervision: Supervise and lead a crew of 2-3 service persons. Ensure the safety and efficient completion of tasks. Make informed decisions based on years of experience and in-depth knowledge.Installation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation, construction, and repair of water, wastewater, and gas utility lines and service lines. Ensure proper maintenance of utilities infrastructure.Equipment Management: Operate excavation and other relevant equipment. Ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition.Administrative Duties: Complete and manage work orders related to utilities tasks. Attend and ensure crew attendance at classes, training sessions, and safety meetings.Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.Success Framework.
