Job summary

Kean Miller LLP seeks an experienced Registered Patent Attorney to support its growing patent prosecution and litigation dockets. The ideal candidate will be based in New Orleans, LA, with flexibility for candidates in Baton Rouge, Houston, or The Woodlands.

This role offers a reduced-hour schedule option. The attorney will provide client counseling; draft patent applications, litigation documents, and opinion letters; and conduct related legal research.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
• Minimum of 5 years of patent prosecution experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong academic credentials and solid references.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, prosecute, and manage patent and trademark filings and related documents.
• Communicate with clients, attorneys, staff, and offices regarding status, filings, and requirements.
• Coordinate U.S. and international patent and trademark filings with foreign counsel.
• Oversee U.S. and international patent prosecution dockets and deadlines.
• Draft and respond to IP-related opinions, cease-and-desist letters, and related documents.
• Assist with IP litigation and related research as needed.
• Stay current on developments in IP law and practice.
