Job summary

Kean Miller LLP in The Woodlands, TX, seeks an experienced Registered Patent Attorney to support patent prosecution and IP litigation. The ideal candidate will manage patent and trademark documents, counsel clients, and coordinate with foreign counsel from Houston, The Woodlands, or New Orleans offices.

Admission to the USPTO is required; Louisiana or Texas bar preferred. Reduced-hour schedules may be considered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in patent prosecution
• Admitted to practice before the USPTO
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Strong writing skills and professional references
• Ability to interact directly with clients and develop relationships

Responsibilities

• Prepare, prosecute, and manage patent and trademark applications and related documents
• Communicate with clients, attorneys, staff, and government offices regarding status and requirements
• Coordinate international filings and communicate with foreign counsel
• Oversee US and international prosecution dockets to meet deadlines
• Draft and respond to IP-related cease-and-desist letters and provide counsel on IP contracts
• Assist with IP litigation and stay current on developments in IP law
