Job summary

Chevrolet of Merrillville in Merrillville, IN is seeking a skilled Used Car Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain Chevrolet and other GM vehicles to factory standards. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly rate, 50+ flag hours per week, and a weekday schedule with no weekends, plus bonuses and benefits.

You will work in a modern service facility, receive GM training, tool allowance, and opportunities for advancement within a busy, team-oriented shop.

Qualifications

• Previous used car repair / reconditioning experience required.
• GM experience or GM certification is a plus.
• Solid diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain used Chevrolets and other vehicles to factory standards.
• Perform routine services including oil changes, brakes, alignments, and tire services.
• Handle electrical, engine performance, and drivability diagnostics.
• Complete warranty and recall work following GM guidelines.
• Document all repairs and communicate clearly with service advisors.
• Road test vehicles to confirm quality and safety of completed work.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Stay current with GM training, technology, and service updates.
