Job summary

Parks Chevrolet Charlotte in Charlotte, NC is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to perform maintenance and repairs to manufacturer standards. You will diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of vehicle systems, perform multi-point inspections, and explain required work to customers in non-technical terms.

Experience of at least 2 years and a valid driver's license are required. The role is full-time, day shift, with opportunities for ongoing training and growth within a busy dealer

Qualifications

• Manufacturer certification is a plus but not required; we train and grow our own.
• Excellent communication and service skills and essential computer skills.
• Team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Proven knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Perform multi-point inspections.
• Execute the service SOP and utilize MPI and related tools.
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in non-technical terms to service advisors and customers, providing an estimate of time needed.
• Test-drive vehicles before and after repairs and verify functionality.
• Learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep up with changing technology.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air‑conditioning, etc.
• Perform multi‑point inspections
• Execute the service SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times
• Utilize AutoPoint and keep all repair orders up to date, striving to maintain at least two recommendations per vehicle
• Fix the vehicle right the first time! Make quality checks after each repair
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non‑technical manner to service advisors and customers, providing an estimate of the time needed for additional repairs
• Test‑drive vehicles before and after repairs and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Clock on and off all repair orders as required
• Learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep up with rapidly changing technology
• Participate in manufacturer‑sponsored training programs, schools, and events
• Adhere to company regulations and keep abreast of recalls, updates, and bulletins
• Report machinery malfunctions or defects to supervisor
• Ensure the customer's vehicles are kept clean; notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or conditions of the vehicles
• Input all vehicle recommendations and complete check sheets in MPI
• Find pricing and availability of needed parts in the 'notes' section in MPI
• Report any safety issues to management and ensure a clean working area
