Position Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Manager of Software Engineering specializing in embedded Linux systems to help develop and maintain Vizio’s core operating structure. The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading, communicating, tracking, and mentoring the Engineering team to successfully implement visions and solve complex problems. This role reports to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and manages multiple Engineering Managers. The position is based in Dallas, TX, with minimal travel (twice a year). We focus on high-impact, high-value development in a collaborative environment, working in our Dallas office five days a week.

What you'll do...

Lead and mentor high-performing engineering teams, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, drive the design and development of core OS components, collaborate across teams to align priorities, improve development practices, and resolve platform-level issues impacting customers.

What You'll Bring

• Strong experience with C/C++ and Linux.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems in embedded devices.
• Experience leading design and implementation of automated engineering tests for embedded devices.
• Background as an Engineering Director or Principal Engineer/Architect.
• Ability to balance competing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, related field, and 5 years of software engineering experience. Option 2: 7 years of relevant experience. Additionally, at least 2 years of supervisory experience are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of experience or equivalent. Candidates with a background in creating accessible digital experiences, knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility are highly valued.
