Job description

Position Summary

This role involves leading and developing teams by teaching, training, actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Responsibilities include communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. The role also involves introducing and leading change efforts, providing clear expectations, and implementing business solutions while effectively communicating business objectives.

What you'll do

Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards by following the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Manage and support customer service initiatives, such as store community outreach programs, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved. Develop and implement action plans to address deficiencies and lead process improvements to enhance customer experience.

Drive the financial performance of the store area by reviewing profit and loss statements, managing budgets, forecasting, controlling expenses, and monitoring inventory flow and operational processes. Develop strategies to mitigate shrinkage and achieve sales and profit goals.

Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates through hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties. Set clear expectations, recognize achievements, and foster a culture of belonging. Recruit and develop qualified staff to meet staffing needs and support company growth.

Coordinate and oversee activities by building relationships with stakeholders, supporting plans to meet customer and business needs, and measuring progress. Identify improvement opportunities and promote continuous learning and adaptability.

Ensure compliance with company policies, supporting ethics and integrity, and implementing related action plans. Promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and belonging, creating a workplace where associates feel supported and valued.

Build strong relationships, communicate effectively, and motivate teams. Attract, retain, empower, and develop talent while recognizing contributions. Uphold high standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance, supporting Walmart's values and culture.

Deliver results with a customer-first approach, making decisions based on data insights, and balancing short-term and long-term priorities. Encourage continuous improvement, technological adoption, and resilience in the face of change.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years of college, or 1 year of retail experience with 1 year of supervisory experience, or 2 years of general work experience with 1 year of supervisory experience. For firearm sales facilities, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required. Additional training and assessments will be necessary for associates in specific roles.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University, or a Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through the same programs. Experience supervising five or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
