Job summary

Morrison Express in Compton, CA seeks an experienced Logistics Supervisor to plan, monitor, and assign workload for the logistics department, ensuring efficient freight management, proper documentation, and cost control.

You will coach staff, coordinate with sales and management, monitor KPIs including on-time billing, and work with station leadership on P&L oversight, warehouse capacity, and vendor relations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business Management, or a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with experience in contract logistics preferred.
  • Knowledge of logistics operations such as fulfillment, pick and pack, E-commerce, etc.
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience, with demonstrated standards that exceeded expectations.
  • DG, Hazmat, TSA Certification.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Experience handling bonded freight and out-of-gauge or project cargo.
  • Fundamentals of warehouse and trucking operations.
  • Strong attention to detail with urgency and corrective action.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, customer-service oriented, and team-focused.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • CW1 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, direct, and assign workload to logistics department.
  • Ensure freight is managed efficiently, including correct documentation, fulfillment, compliance, and billing.
  • Coach and train station staff and ensure MEC trainings are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with MEC sales/management to respond to customer needs and implement corrective action.
  • Assist MEC staff to achieve strategic goals and vision.
  • Monitor KPIs daily, including On Time Billing.
  • Work with Station Head on P&L oversight.
  • Validate warehousing fundamentals to support station operations.
  • Maintain relations with local vendors.
  • Assist Sales with RFQ rates.
  • Maintain high customer focus with timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities:



  • Plan, monitor, direct, and assign workload to logistics department.

  • Ensure freight is managed efficiently, including completion of correct documentation, fulfillment is completed, compliance requirements are met, customer SOPs are followed, costs are controlled, and accounts are billed and paid correctly.

  • Coach and train all station staff, including cross training employees, and ensure staff complete all required MEC trainings on time.

  • Work closely with MEC sales, management, and other internal team members to respond promptly to customer needs, suggest and implement corrective action when issues arise, and take accountability for offering solutions when problems are presented.

  • Proactively assist other members of MEC to help MEC achieve its vision and strategic goals.

  • Daily report monitoring validating that KPIs are being met including but not limited to:On Time Billing.

  • Work with Station Head to monitor P&L, acting as a secondary owner for oversight and monitoring.

  • Proper understanding of the fundamentals of warehousing operations including validating that warehouse is adequate to support station operations.

  • Maintaining and creating business relations with local vendors.

  • Assisting Sales Department with putting together rates for RFQs.

  • High degree of customer focus, including: timely communications, building relationships, and troubleshooting and resolving issues.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgement.

  • Must be self‑motivated, customer-service oriented, and eager to ensure the success of the team.

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office required, CW1 preferred.
