Job description

Position Summary

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate business objectives to teams effectively. Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Manages and supports customer service initiatives, such as store community outreach programs, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved successfully. Develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.

Responsibilities
  1. Drives the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating PL (Profit & Loss) statements, managing budgets, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Ensures effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Develops and implements action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals.
  2. Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties. Sets clear expectations, provides recognition, and promotes a culture of belonging. Recruits and develops qualified associates to meet staffing needs and support company growth.
  3. Coordinates and oversees job-related activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans to meet customer and business needs, and building accountability for results. Identifies improvement opportunities and demonstrates adaptability and continuous learning.
  4. Ensures compliance with company policies and standards of ethics and integrity. Implements related action plans, supports the Open Door Policy, and guides team members in applying these principles in their work.
  5. Builds high-performing teams by embracing diversity, creating a supportive workplace, and fostering a culture of belonging. Attracts, retains, and develops talent, recognizing contributions and accomplishments.
  6. Acts with integrity by maintaining high standards of ethics, supporting Walmart’s values, and fostering a positive culture. Supports Walmart’s goal of becoming a regenerative company by making a positive impact in the community and environment.
  7. Delivers results by focusing on customer needs, making data-driven decisions, and balancing short-term and long-term priorities. Applies business models such as EDLP and EDLC in planning and decision-making.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience. For firearm-related positions, successful completion of a background check and firearm training is required. Associates must attend and complete all required training and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University, Certificate in People and Business Leadership, and experience supervising 5+ direct reports including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
