Job description

Lightbringer | Full-time | Remote across the US

You'll join the Lightbringer team to help growing technology companies turn their technology into business moats.

AI is already part of the day-to-day work here. Our workflows produce first drafts of patent applications and office-action responses. Your contribution is the technical understanding, professional judgment and relationship with the inventor that makes that work fit for purpose: finding what matters, shaping the protection, challenging the output and guiding the client through decisions.

You’ll also help improve how the work gets done. When a workflow misses technical detail, narrows a claim unnecessarily or needs a better way to incorporate inventor feedback, your insight can improve the process for future matters.

What you’ll do
  • Build trusted relationships with inventors and innovators. Understand their technology and business priorities, ask the questions that uncover what matters, and explain the patent process clearly.
  • Develop invention disclosures and claim strategies with clients, resolving gaps and making sure the proposed protection reflects the invention and its intended commercial use.
  • Use Lightbringer’s AI workflows to prepare, critically review and refine patent applications and office-action responses. Assess claim scope, prior art, technical support and consistency across claims, descriptions and drawings.
  • Guide clients through review, filing and prosecution decisions, working with patent specialists and other practitioners to keep matters moving.
  • Give specific, practical feedback to the product and engineering team so that professional experience helps improve the platform.
What you’ll bring
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO as a patent attorney or patent agent, with 2 to 6 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience
  • The ability to handle drafting and prosecution matters competently and independently, within normal quality-control and review processes.
  • Outstanding client relationships and the ability to make complex patent questions understandable to people who are developing the technology.
  • Strong technical judgment. We welcome applicants from any technical field.
  • A thoughtful approach to AI: willing to use it extensively, able to challenge it, and interested in improving an evolving way of working.

This is an opportunity to work closely with inventors while helping shape how patent services are delivered. Your judgment will matter both to the client in front of you and to the way the next matter is handled.
