Job summary

USGA in Pebble Beach, CA, invites applications for the 2027 U.S. Open Championship Internship in the Championship Office. You’ll support daily admin, volunteer program activities, and event week duties, with housing stipend provided and a pay rate of $17.40 per hour.

Expected weeks start March 22, 2027 through June 30, 2027, with escalating hours nearing championship. Ideal candidates are organized, communicative, able to handle high-pressure environments, and ready for physical tasks across

Qualifications

• Must be able to work long and strenuous hours (40–100+ hour weeks).
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a golf cart.
• Effective communication with a wide variety of individuals involved in a national championship.
• Resourceful, presentable, courteous, friendly, and organized.
• Good follow-up skills and ability to handle issues quickly and calmly.
• Team-first mentality.
• Ability to work independently and support the team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to prepare presentations including PowerPoint and printed material.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and execute detailed plans – anticipate problems and provide solutions.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Answering incoming emails and phone calls to the 2027 U.S. Open championship office.
• Preparing mailings, opening incoming mail, handling UPS shipping/receiving.
• Maintain all necessary office supplies and order items as necessary. May require local trips to pick-up items as needed.
• Assist in taking and distributing notes for meetings as necessary.
• The Volunteer Program for the 2027 U.S. Open includes 4,000+ volunteers across 14 committees.
• Assisting with volunteer training, credential packets, handbooks, and presentations.
• Managing concerns and requests of volunteers before and during the championship.
• Assisting Committee Chairs with scheduling, site visits, and committee management.
• Setting up, organizing, and tearing down volunteer areas on championship grounds.
