Job summary

Mercer is seeking a US Insurance Segment Leader to join the US Wealth Leadership team. This hybrid role requires three days per week in the office and is based in the United States.

The role shapes the strategic direction for the Insurance segment, drives financial performance, and expands Mercer’s presence among captive, insurance and re-insurance clients across property and casualty, health and life insurance. You will lead a high‑impact team and collaborate across Marsh.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of insurance client needs, investment strategies, regulatory and accounting considerations.
• Ability to lead complex dialog with CIOs, CFOs, Treasurers, Investment Committees and Boards of Insurers.
• Proven ability to develop a robust multi-year strategy including market/competitive analysis, proposition development, financial modeling, and resourcing.
• Experience developing and executing commercial business plans that translate into measurable financial results.
• Experience developing innovative solutions for insurance clients.
• Ability to identify and elevate potential inorganic growth opportunities in the segment.

Responsibilities

• Achieve financial results for the Insurance segment.
• Serve as the commercial leader responsible for day-to-day business decisions and execution of segment priorities.
• Set and execute the strategic direction including segmentation, value proposition, and competitive positioning.
• Manage direct reports and influence partners in sales, local offices and other segments.
• Develop and manage talent within the segment.
• Support broader US Investments leadership objectives and collaborate with Insurance segment leaders globally.
• Drive cross-Marsh collaboration to unlock opportunities, particularly with Marsh Risk, Marsh Re and Oliver Wyman.
• Identify opportunities to expand Mercer’s services and solutions to meet the evolving needs of Insurance investors.
• Maintain strong industry expertise to guide solution development and ensure Mercer delivers high quality services to Insurance clients.
• Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.
