Job summary

EMR USA Metal Recycling in New Orleans, LA is seeking a General Yard Operative to join our on-site team. You will help with housekeeping, site cleaning, debris removal, and equipment maintenance while ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly workplace.

The role supports a hands-on environment with teamwork and the use of various hand tools; forklift experience is preferred. This position emphasizes safety and reliability in everyday yard duties.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Experience with forklift is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in housekeeping and keep the site clean and orderly.
• Remove debris; prepare sites and check for hazards.
• Assist in maintenance of equipment and clean barges and equipment.
• Follow operating and health and safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assist in housekeeping
• Ensure a clean and orderly workplace
• Clean and prepare sites by removing debris and possible hazards
• Assist in maintenance of equipment
• Clean barges and equipment
• Adhere to operating and health and safety protocols
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• Ability to use variety of hand tools such as snip cutters, brooms, shovels, etc.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Ability to work overhead, climb ladders, kneel, and stand for long periods.

Education:

• High School graduate or G.E.D.
• Previous experience using a forklift preferred.
