Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Patient Navigator to guide patients and families through scheduling, procedures, and follow-up care. This role coordinates access to care, communicates with physicians, clinical teams, and community resources, and removes barriers to create a seamless patient experience.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), 1–2 years in medical/clinical offices, and strong communication, organization, and EHR skills to thrive

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in a medical or clinical office preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organization, and prioritization skills; able to remain professional in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care by managing office visits, consultations, tests, procedures, surgeries, and pre/post-operative appointments.
• Serve as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and community resources; address questions and remove barriers to care.
• Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, financial responsibilities, policies, and other pre-visit information.
• Provide comprehensive admin support: maintain physician calendars, answer calls, prepare correspondence, coordinate meetings, obtain medical records, and index documentation in the EHR.
