The ideal candidate has an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), 1–2 years in medical/clinical offices, and strong communication, organization, and EHR skills to thrive

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in a medical or clinical office preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organization, and prioritization skills; able to remain professional in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care by managing office visits, consultations, tests, procedures, surgeries, and pre/post-operative appointments.
• Serve as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and community resources; address questions and remove barriers to care.
• Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, financial responsibilities, policies, and other pre-visit information.
• Provide comprehensive admin support: maintain physician calendars, answer calls, prepare correspondence, coordinate meetings, obtain medical records, and index documentation in the EHR.

Summary of Position:

Help patients and families feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their care journey.

MedStar Health is seeking an organized, compassionate, and service-focused Patient Navigator to coordinate access to care and guide patients and families through the scheduling, procedural, and follow-up process. In this role, you will serve as a trusted liaison among patients, physicians, clinical teams, and community resources while helping remove barriers and create a seamless patient experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Guide patients and families through the care process by coordinating office visits, specialty consultations, diagnostic testing, procedures, surgeries, admissions, and pre- and post-operative appointments.
• Serve as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and community resources while addressing questions, anticipating needs, and helping eliminate barriers to care.
• Manage referrals and communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, financial responsibilities, facility policies, and other important pre-visit information.
• Provide comprehensive administrative support, including maintaining physician calendars, answering calls, preparing correspondence, coordinating meetings, obtaining medical records, and accurately scanning and indexing documentation in the electronic health record.

Minimal Qualifications:

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. An appropriate combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• One to two years of experience in a medical or clinical office preferred, particularly in patient registration or administrative support.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience working with electronic health records preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to remain professional and effective in a high-pressure environment.

This position has a hiring range of USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
