Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a per diem Urology Nurse Practitioner to provide patient-centered, evidence-based care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret tests, and manage medical/surgical conditions while adhering to NJ regulations for prescriptive authority. Weekend coverage is required with possible weekday and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
• Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents history and physical assessments appropriate for patient age and problem.
• Orders, performs, and interprets lab tests and diagnostics in collaboration with physicians.
• Manages general medical/surgical conditions with pharmacologic knowledge.
• Prescribes medications safely under NJ regulations and provides patient education.
• Promotes APN practice recognition through conferences, publications, and presentations.
• Delivers patient- and family-centered care.
• Adheres to nursing protocols, standards of care, and quality indicators.
• Applies evidence-based and value-based medicine to improve care and outcomes.
• Evaluates care transitions considering resources, cost, quality, safety, and self-management.
• Demonstrates advanced assessment and procedural skills pertinent to practice.
• Completes medication reconciliations as appropriate.
• Participates in annual APN peer review.
• Translates best practice into clinical practice by evaluating protocols.
• Provides culturally sensitive education to patients and families
• Facilitates coordinated care and communication within the healthcare team
• Acts as clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
• Mentors APNs, precepts students, and teaches nursing as a clinical expert
• Identifies patient education needs and implements teaching materials
• Promotes innovation by integrating new clinical knowledge into practice
• Participates in clinical research and disseminates findings
• Addresses ethical care issues and coordinates interdisciplinary meetings
• Complies with NJ Division of Consumer Affairs scope of practice and hospital policies
