Job summary

UPMC Department of Urology in Pittsburgh is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the team at Shadyside. This position focuses on back-office duties with day shifts and no evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities include HIPAA-compliant record handling, phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab work, patient prep, and assisting physicians with procedures under supervision. Prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Preferred Medical Assistant experience.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Willingness to work daytime hours at Shadyside.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and schedule appointments.
• Prepare exam/procedure rooms and maintain infection control.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, collecting specimens, and exam prep.
• Answer calls and provide patient education.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist with procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with policies.
• Under supervision administer injectable meds when appropriate.
