UrgentVet Hospitals in Mentor, OH is seeking a Full-Time Shift Lead to oversee patient care, team coordination, and client service in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The role combines senior veterinary assistant/technician duties with operational leadership across shifts, mentoring paraprofessionals, coordinating schedules, and ensuring efficient hospital performance.

A $5,000 retention bonus over a 2-year commitment is offered, with on-site work and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service-type industry.
• Medical terminology training is required.
• Associate degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure in Ohio required.
• Six months of management experience strongly preferred.
• Animal handling experience including restraint, sample collection, and monitoring.
• Clinical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of Senior Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician across shifts.
• Provide leadership to support clients, coordinate paraprofessional staff, and meet hospital goals.
• Direct, plan, and coordinate animal health and client education for efficient care.
• Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and leadership; resolve bottlenecks in operations.
• Mentor and train new paraprofessional staff; assist with inventory management.
