American Veterinary Group is seeking a Full-Time Shift Lead for UrgentVet in Midlothian to provide outstanding patient care, lead the team, and ensure efficient client service in a fast-paced urgent care clinic.

The role requires supervising paraprofessionals, coordinating staff across shifts, and partnering with leadership to meet hospital goals while maintaining high standards of safety and care.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in healthcare, veterinary field, or service industry.
• Medical background with medical terminology training.
• Associate degree or veterinary technician certification preferred.
• Six months of management experience preferred.
• Animal handling and patient restraint experience.
• Phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support across shifts to ensure quality patient care.
• Coordinate paraprofessional staff and manage hospital operations.
• Assist in client education, resolution of client concerns, and service delivery.
• Assign cases to veterinary staff and optimize workflow to reduce bottlenecks.
• Train and mentor new paraprofessional staff; support inventory management and equipment upkeep.
