Job summary

UrgentVet Hatfield is seeking a Full-Time Shift Lead to supervise a fast-paced urgent care clinic. The role combines patient care oversight with staff leadership, client service, and operational efficiency to deliver high-quality veterinary care.

You will partner with the Practice Manager and Lead DVM to ensure smooth communication and effective hospital operations, while supporting a team dedicated to compassionate animal care.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service-type industry required.
• Medical background with medical terminology training required.
• Associate degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred.
• Six months of prior experience in a management position strongly preferred.
• Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring
• Clinical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across all shifts to support clients, staff, and hospital goals.
• Coordinate paraprofessional staff and maximize productivity and profitability.
• Communicate effectively with clients, hospital leadership, and support centers.
• Assign cases to veterinary assistants and manage responsibilities to resolve bottlenecks.
• Assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and service exceptions.
• Train and mentor new paraprofessional staff.
• Address equipment issues and assist with inventory management.
