Job summary

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care in Connecticut is seeking a Medical Assistant to support examination and treatment of patients under urgent care providers. You will manage check-in, interview patients, record vitals, draw blood, and prepare rooms.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma; MA program preferred; BLS at hire; MA certifications (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA) or equivalent experience; training within 15 months if not certified at start date.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred
• BLS required at time of hire
• Certification options: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA
• Alternative: 1+ year MA in hospital/urgent care or phlebotomy experience
• If no MA cert, must obtain within 15 months of start date
• Additionally, Nursing/EMT/CNA paths acceptable with CPOE within two weeks

Responsibilities

• Register patients, secure paperwork and insurance eligibility
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments
• Coordinate referrals to specialists
• Answer patient questions and communicate status
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
• Measure vitals and perform basic physicals
• Conduct point-of-care testing as needed
• Maintain supplies and cleanliness of exam rooms and front desk
• Maintain medical records and scanning of charts
• Handle phone calls and daily mail
• Ensure reception is well maintained
• Perform opening/closing duties and cash handling
• Follow QA/QC and equipment maintenance procedures
• All other duties as assigned
