Job summary

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care, LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urgent care operations. The role includes patient check-in, vital signs, specimen collection, and preparing treatment rooms, under the direction of an urgent care provider.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred
• BLS required at time of hire, through ARC or AHA
• CPOE certification within two weeks of start date
• Ability to type quickly and use basic computer systems
• Experience in front desk or medical office is preferred
• Certification options: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, or equivalent
• Alternative MA experience acceptable with required certifications within 15 months

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments
• Coordinate referrals to Specialists
• Answer patient questions and inform them of status
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
• Perform point-of-care tests (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms and reception areas
• Maintain medical records and scan charts
• Open/close duties including cash handling and end-of-day reporting
