Job summary

UCSF Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist in examinations and treatments under the direction of an urgent care provider. The role includes check‑in, interview, vital signs, specimen prep, and room preparation to ensure a smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include conducting point‑of‑care testing, handling front desk duties, and supporting providers with referrals and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
• California MA requirements may include internal training or certification.
• Certifications such as CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA or equivalent accepted at hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists.
• Answer patient questions and update on status.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for examination.
• Perform point-of-care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Maintain inventory and cleanliness of exam rooms and reception areas.
• Complete order sheets and monitor supply expiration dates.
• Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
