Job summary

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealthUrgent Care seeks a Medical Assistant to support urgent care centers. You will register patients, verify insurance, collect vital signs, and assist providers with exams.

The role requires BLS, MA certification or equivalent experience, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Salary ranges are provided with a base hourly rate, and there are opportunities for growth, benefits, and sign-on bonuses for external candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• One of several MA certifications accepted at time of hire (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA).
• Alternative: 1+ year MA in hospital/urgent care, or phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists.
• Prepare patients for examination and collect vital signs.
• Perform point-of-care testing when needed and document results.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and records; manage charts and correspondence.
• Open/close duties and ensure building security at shift end.
