Job summary

KAISER Permanente in Largo, MD seeks an Urgent Care Technician for a 24-hour shift to assist in delivering patient care under physician supervision. Responsibilities include patient flow management, venipuncture, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and POC testing, while maintaining clean exam rooms and accurate records.

Requirements include an accredited MA program graduate with phlebotomy training and a high school diploma or GED; CMA/CCMA/NCCT credentialing is considered. BLS is required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy training.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• BLS certification is preferred or required by Kaiser Permanente.
• Must be able to complete Kaiser-specific MA competencies within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates flow of patients in the department to optimize throughput; keeps patients apprised of delays.
• Observes patients in the department and notifies the provider and/or RN immediately if patient appears in distress.
• Prepares patients to see the provider; assists prior to, during, and following examination as needed.
• Performs all skills required of the Medical Assistant, including IV insertion and venipuncture and POC testing.
• Provides and reviews written instructions with patients as appropriate.
• Maintains examination and treatment rooms and other clinical areas; cleans equipment and manages supply levels.
• Verifies eligibility and demographic information for new and existing patients; collects payments per procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
