Job summary

The City of Rowlett is seeking a professional planner to support current, advanced planning and analysis. Under general supervision, you will assist senior staff in processing planning and zoning cases from application to final approval, conduct long-range and special project planning and research.

We offer a 4‑day work week with hours 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, a solid benefits package, and a 7% TMRS pension with a 2:1 match.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of principles, concepts and theories of urban planning.
• Ability to analyze complex data and research history/background of zoning ordinances.
• Knowledge of GIS systems capable of generating graphics from statistical data.

Responsibilities

• Process planning and zoning cases by reviewing development proposals and coordinating with departments.
• Prepare graphics, memos, reports, and final packets; review legal ads for publication.
• Attend and support Planning and Zoning Commission meetings as needed.
• Research property ownership and participate in comprehensive planning activities and studies.
• Maintain attendance and reliability as an essential function.
