Job summary

City of Rowlett seeks a Senior Planner to perform detailed analysis of development applications and lead project reviews with internal and external partners. You will prepare professional documents, technical reports, and presentations for the City Council and various boards and commissions.

The role requires coordinating with applicants, understanding planning practices, and ensuring compliance with City regulations and the comprehensive plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Community Development, Communications, Public Administration, Social Work, Urban Planning or related field.
• Four (4) years of related experience with significant public interaction required, particularly in engaging and working with stakeholder groups.
• Current planning / development review experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with applicants and provide assistance to navigate the development review process.
• Lead project review processes and coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Prepare professional documents, technical reports, and presentations for City Council and boards/commissions.
• Ensure public notices and publications are completed for assigned cases/projects.
• Provide presentations and reports to City Council, Boards and Commissions, and City departments.
• May supervise interns or other part-time staff.
