Forte Prep in Elmhurst, NY is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher to start in Fall 2026. Forte Prep is a 5th through 8th grade, tuition-free public charter school serving 360+ students with a strong record of state exam performance and college readiness.

The teacher will plan high-quality science lessons, support students’ emotional and behavioral development, and collaborate with other teachers in a diverse, equity‑focused environment that prepares students for postsecondary success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of urban teaching preferred.
• NY Certification to teach.
• Demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains that surpass state or local averages.
• Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including those with special needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents and community members.
• Advanced degrees in education or content area preferred.
• Highly Qualified as defined by No Child Left Behind.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute high-quality classroom lessons.
• Support the emotional and behavioral development of all students.
• Work collaboratively with other general education teachers and engage in co-planning.
• Create an education of excellence that meets student’s interests, abilities, and needs within a curricular framework reflecting diversity in our community.
• Participate in data meetings and deep dives in line with school goals.
• Keep frequent and current records of student progress.
• Foster a strong and cohesive school culture through community building and restorative practices.
