Forte Prep in Elmhurst, NY is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher to start in Fall 2026. Forte Prep is a 5th through 8th grade, tuition-free public charter school serving 360+ students with a strong record of state exam performance and college readiness.

The teacher will plan high-quality science lessons, support students’ emotional and behavioral development, and collaborate with other teachers in a diverse, equity‑focused environment that prepares students for postsecondary success.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of urban teaching preferred.
NY Certification to teach.
Demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains that surpass state or local averages.
Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including those with special needs.
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and community members.
Advanced degrees in education or content area preferred.
Highly Qualified as defined by No Child Left Behind.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute high-quality classroom lessons.
Support the emotional and behavioral development of all students.
Work collaboratively with other general education teachers and engage in co-planning.
Create an education of excellence that meets student’s interests, abilities, and needs within a curricular framework reflecting diversity in our community.

Position: Middle School Science Teacher

Location: Elmhurst, NY

Forte Prep is a 5th through 8th grade college preparatory, tuition-free public charter school in Queens. We educate 360+ students from the Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst and Corona communities. Our students have outperformed Community School District 24, 30, Queens County, New York City and New York State on the ELA and Math State exams in each of our eight years of operation. We doubled proficiency rates in reading and nearly tripled them in math, and look forward to continuing to build from there.

Compensation

Salary range is $65,000-$95,000 commensurate with your experience.
