Job summary

GEO Next Generation High School in Baton Rouge seeks a dedicated High School Biology Teacher to plan and deliver blended learning in secondary biology, aligned with state standards. You will contribute to TAP initiatives, support diverse learners, and engage with families to monitor progress.

The role requires collaboration with Special Education staff and administration, regular attendance at grade-level and school events, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a high-expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field or 24 credit hours in content area.
• Valid secondary biology teaching license preferred.
• Strong writing skills demonstrated in classroom settings.
• Ability to leverage technology to improve student achievement.
• Experience or commitment to volunteer/community service.
• At least one of: National Board Certification, TAP experience, Core Knowledge experience, Blended Learning, urban teaching in a challenging environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment with direct and indirect instruction.
• Participate in TAP requirements and data-driven instruction.
• Create an engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking and problem solving.
• Prepare students for assessments and academic achievement.
• Communicate with parents regularly and track student progress.
• Collaborate with Special Education and administration to support diverse learners.
• Attend staff meetings and school events outside normal hours.
• Establish and enforce classroom behavior rules and routines.
• Perform duties as assigned by the principal.
• Support early college student services and dual credit opportunities.
