Job summary

GEO Next Generation High School in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks a 6th & 7th grade teacher to deliver instruction across Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, and Mathematics within a blended learning environment.

The successful candidate will foster a dynamic, technology-enabled classroom that builds critical thinking, tracks data, communicates with families, and collaborates with Special Education and administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area.
• Valid (State) Teaching License for Grades K-5 or 6.
• Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement.
• Demonstrated volunteer or community service.
• At least one of the following: National Board Certification; Core Knowledge Experience; Experience with Blended Learning.
• At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment across Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, and Math.
• Create an inviting, innovative learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of required assessments.
• Communicate regularly with parents.
• Continually assess student progress and keep students/parents informed with data, feedback, and assessments.
