Job summary

The City of Woodland is seeking a skilled supervisor to lead park and grounds maintenance with a focus on urban forestry. The role involves managing landscapes, trees, cemetery areas, and recreation facilities while coordinating with staff, contractors, and other departments to ensure safe, high-quality park services.

Ideal candidates will have four years of related experience, strong leadership, and knowledge of pesticide safety and CAL-OSHA rules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with course work in horticulture/grounds maintenance.
• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in park/ground maintenance and urban forestry, including lead/supervisory duties.

Responsibilities

• Inspect landscaped areas, including trees, cemetery, recreation facilities, pools, parks and buildings, to identify repair needs and plan corrective actions.
• Schedule materials, equipment and personnel to complete assignments; prepare project timelines.
• Instruct subordinates in work techniques, equipment use and safety, including CAL-OSHA requirements; supervise safety and disposal of pesticides.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; drive vehicles and equipment as required; maintain regular attendance.
