Job summary

City of Newark, California is seeking a Landscape and Parks Maintenance Supervisor to lead citywide landscape, parks, and urban forestry operations. The role includes supervising planting, pruning, irrigation, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, turf, and playgrounds, coordinating service contracts, and acting as City Arborist.

The ideal candidate will have ISA Arborist certification, a QAL, and at least four years of progressively responsible maintenance experience, with two years in a lead role.

Qualifications

• Must have lead responsibility or higher level public works maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate landscape, parks, and urban forestry maintenance operations.
• Administer related service contracts and maintenance districts.
• Supervise planting, pruning, mowing, and care of shrubs, flowers, turf, and trees.
• Oversee tree permit process and Urban Forest Management Plan coordination.
• Ensure safe application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers.
