Job summary

CalOpps is seeking an Urban Landscape Manager to lead park capital maintenance projects and oversee park staff and contractors under the Park Superintendent. The role covers parks, medians, municipal landscape and hardscape, trails and open space, with duties in planning, budgeting and operations.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s degree or higher in horticulture, recreation, business administration, or a related field and three years of progressively responsible park operations experience,

Qualifications

• Education and experience showing knowledge in park operations, maintenance and/or construction with supervisory responsibilities.
• A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Highly desirable certifications include Construction Management, Playground Safety Inspector, ISA Arborist.

Responsibilities

• Oversee park maintenance capital projects and ensure purchasing and legal requirements are met.
• Plan, schedule, organize, manage and assign work within Park Maintenance; supervise staff as needed.
• Prepare budgets, bid materials, contracts and specifications for city landscaped areas.
• Coordinate with consultants, track training needs, and monitor expenditures against the division budget.
• Develop and maintain performance measures and ensure compliant, high-quality park operations.
