Job summary

The Natural Areas Conservancy in New York City is hiring a Forest Restoration Site Coordinator to support forest restoration projects at natural areas across the city. This role involves 80% field-based work with 20% office tasks, reporting to the Senior Manager, Conservation Science.

Responsibilities include tracking restoration activities, developing project calendars/maps, site visits, and coordinating with NAC ecologists and NYC Parks teams.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in forestry/ecology with 1 year experience.
  • Urban natural area forest management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of ecological construction and forest ecology.
  • Strong NYC plant identification and communication skills.
  • NY driver’s license required.
  • Proficiency with Word/Excel/PowerPoint or Google Suite.
  • Able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing forest restoration projects in NYC sites.
  • Develop calendars and maps; coordinate schedules and deliverables.
  • Conduct site visits; document progress and compliance.
  • Prepare project documentation, schedules, GIS data, and reports.
  • Coordinate plant orders and nursery stock deliveries.
  • Perform site safety inspections with contractors and partners.
  • Support community engagement and volunteer events.
