Job summary

SMU’s Upward Bound program seeks a dedicated Coordinator to mentor and guide high school students toward college success. You will develop school partnerships, oversee recruitment, verify eligibility, and deliver academic enrichment and college-prep activities, including FAFSA support and workshops.

Ideal candidates have a BA and at least two years in education or youth programs, with strong interpersonal and Spanish-language communication skills. On-campus, in-person work is required at SMU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Minimum two years of experience in education, social work, or related field.
• Experience with TRIO programs and youth services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational support and advising to Upward Bound students.
• Plan and conduct college-prep workshops for students and parents/guardians.
• Coordinate outreach, recruitment, and eligibility verification for partner schools.
• Develop and monitor student participation plans and Summer Melt activities.
• Coordinate services to align with the partner school's mission.
• Follow up with prospective students and parents to communicate program benefits and answer questions.
