The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is partnering with Mills Institute @ Northeastern University Upward Bound Program in Oakland to recruit instructors for STEM and Language Arts courses for high school students.
This temporary teaching role focuses on developing curricula, delivering engaging instruction, and supporting college readiness. We seek educators with a passion for student success, proven classroom skills, and experience working with low-income, first-generation students.
About the Opportunity
Mills Institute @ Northeastern University Upward Bound (MCUB) is afederally funded TRiO program designed to enhance the academicskills of low-income first-generation college-bound high schoolstudents in the Oakland and West Contra Costa Unified SchoolDistrict with the goal that participants will pursue post-secondaryeducation. TRiO is funded by the U.S. Department ofEducation.
The Mills Institute @ Northeastern University Upward Bound Programoffers an educational program for 9th-12th grade students. TheSaturday College program provides academic instruction in English,Sciences, and Mathematics. It also provides courses and workshopsexploring various topics including Life Skills, Study Skills,College Preparation, Career Exploration, and CulturalAwareness.
The Saturday College program will be carried out at Mills Institute@ Northeastern University throughout the academic year twice permonth. Staff orientation/training will take place prior to thefirst instructional day (Date To Be Announced) via Microsoft Teams.Instruction for the Mills Institute @ Northeastern UniversityUpward Bound Program is scheduled to begin Saturday, October10.

Mills Institute @ Northeastern University Upward Bound Program iscurrently seeking highly motivated, knowledgeable, creative,engaging, student-focused, experienced educators to teach academiccourses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics(STEM), as well as Language Arts and Social Sciences. Courses willbe taught to high school students from our target schools.

The Instructor will teach academic and enrichment courses to highschool students participating in the Mills Institute @ NortheasternUniversity Upward Bound Program. This position is responsible fordeveloping and implementing engaging curriculum, fostering academicsuccess, supporting college readiness, and creating a productivelearning environment for low-income, first-generation college-boundstudents.
