Job summary

Verdun Oil Company in Houston is seeking a Manager of Revenue Accounting to lead upstream revenue accounting and reporting for hydrocarbon sales, purchaser settlements, and owner distributions.

You will oversee the monthly revenue close, regulatory filings, and revenue-related GAAP reporting, working closely with marketing, land, joint interest, and operations to ensure accuracy and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or comparable work experience.
• 6-10 years of progressive revenue accounting experience with operated and non-operated assets.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits and financial reporting.
• Prior management or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of revenue accounting principles and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong team-building and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the revenue accounting function by supervising, mentoring, and developing personnel while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Establish departmental goals to automate processes and improve workflow efficiency with KPI reporting.
• Manage the monthly revenue close to ensure GAAP-compliant revenue recognition for oil, gas, and NGLs.
• Oversee purchaser statements, pricing verification, deductions, and settlements.
• Review and approve revenue accruals, receivables, production imbalances, and related journal entries.
• Assist with monthly asset-level operating and financial reporting for management, lenders, and investors.
• Oversee royalty payments, working interest distributions, owner statements, and payments.
• Coordinate ownership changes and division order implementation; resolve revenue ownership discrepancies.
