Job summary

Forge Biologics in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Technician I, GMP Manufacturing – Upstream to help produce AAV-based gene therapies. You’ll work in a cGMP environment, perform upstream processing, and contribute to patient-saving therapies.

You will operate bioreactors and support QA/QC, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing your career through mentorship and hands-on training. This role also offers growth opportunities in a fast-paced, mission-driven team at The Hearth.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, or relevant industry certifications; or high school diploma with +2 years of related experience.
• Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing or lab setting.
• Excellent organization and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting timelines.

Responsibilities

• Execute upstream manufacturing operations including cell culture expansion, transfection, and harvest per SOPs and batch records.
• Prepare and operate bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration systems and other equipment for upstream processing.
• Perform media and buffer preparation and aseptic transfer of materials following cGMP guidelines.
• Monitor process parameters and report deviations to supervisor.
• Conduct sampling and in-process testing for cell counts and viability to ensure product quality.
• Document all manufacturing activities and results in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with QA/QC to investigate deviations and drive corrective actions.
• Support process improvements and new technologies to enhance efficiency.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements in a cleanroom environment.
