Placements24 is seeking an Upstream Exploration Geoscientist for a premier project in Upington, Northern Cape. The role emphasizes seismic interpretation, data integration, and geological modeling to quantify potential resources and guide drilling strategies.

The candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams, assess prospects, and contribute to exploration strategy while building and refining reservoir and source rock models. Strong communication and independent work are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of upstream exploration geoscience experience.
• Proficiency with seismic interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite, SKUA-GOCAD).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petroleum systems.
• Experience with well logs and petrophysical evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D/3D seismic data to identify traps for hydrocarbon exploration.
• Integrate geoscience data sets (well logs, core, gravity, magnetic).
• Build and refine geological models for reservoirs and source rocks.
• Perform prospectivity assessments and volumetric calculations.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and petrophysicists to define uncertainties.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and maps for exploration reviews.
