Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI, is seeking a Statehouse Manager to lead The Statehouse, Augie’s Tavern, and In-Room Dining with a focus on guest service, staff leadership, and operational excellence.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, payroll reporting, and scheduling, while driving profitability and upholding safety, quality, and service standards. A hospitality degree or equivalent and 2+ years of management are preferred.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years restaurant management or supervisory experience, preferably in upscale dining or hotel F&B
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail
• Working knowledge of restaurant operations, financial statements, and labor productivity
• Ability to handle guest issues professionally and resolve concerns
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
• Hotel F&B experience preferred
• Boat safety/handling knowledge preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor staff to maintain high service standards
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings for clear communication
• Create and refine procedures to improve guest experiences
• Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve issues professionally
• Build recognition and rapport with repeat guests
• Ensure smooth daily operations across The Statehouse, Augie’s Tavern, and In-Room Dining
• Monitor food and beverage quality and consistency
• Maintain inventory control, equipment condition, and cleanliness
• Participate in Food & Beverage meetings and contribute to menus and beverage programs
• Step in to support service roles when necessary
• Manage payroll reporting, tip distribution, and staff scheduling
• Conduct weekly/monthly financial reviews and drive profitability through cost control
• Implement upselling techniques to maximize revenue
• Ensure liquor liability, food safety, and emergency procedures compliance
• Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard staff in partnership with HR
• Train and coach staff on service standards and grooming
• Provide feedback and performance evaluations
• Foster safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment
• Enforce Edgewater policies and health and safety standards
