Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI seeks an experienced Banquet Server to deliver guest‑focused service at our luxury resort events. You will assist with setup, food and beverage service, and teamwork across departments to ensure flawless events.

Applicants should have guest service experience in hotel/F&B, a professional appearance, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic event environment. Evening and weekend work required.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and team‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Knowledge of fine dining and wines/beverages.
• Combined 2+ years' hotel and/or food and beverage service (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Work professionally and represent Wisconsin Bride magazine’s number 1 location for weddings in the State, at Madison’s only Luxury 4-diamond resort property.
• Report for duty punctually, in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards.
• Report to the management team before starting and ending shifts and attend all pre or post event meetings as required by management.
• Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Banquet Captain.
• Have complete knowledge of the events Restaurant’s food and beverage preparation.
• Ability to sell alcohol and food items.
• Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
• Understand cashiering procedures and the handling of all payment methods, including Micros (if applicable).
• Maintain specific side-work and ensure cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
• Ability to clear, reset tables and restock or maintain stations and equipment.
• Check identification of guests to ensure legal age for alcohol.
• Treat guests to exceed expectations and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
• Offer professional, friendly, and warm hospitality to all guests.
• Attend required training and stay updated on menus, policies, and service standards.
• Guide guests through the menu with suggestions and recommendations.
• Lead Customer Server Assistants or temp staff to ensure teamwork.
• Communicate service requirements to the team efficiently.
• Keep work areas and stations clean at all times.
• Assist guests with inquiries or requests in a helpful manner.
• Follow health and safety policies for The Edgewater.
• Familiar with different service styles (plated, buffet, working lunches).
• Remove dishes promptly as guests finish meals during events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
