We are currently seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher to join in the vision of our World Language Department for the 2025-2026 school year.

Position: Upper School Spanish Teacher
Reports to: Upper School Head/ World Language Chair
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary

The Upper School Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing a stimulating and developmentally appropriate educational environment in a way that is in accordance with the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education and the philosophy that informs it.

Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities:

1. Responsible for teaching four sections of Upper School Spanish.
2. Sincere and visible commitment to best critical thinking, reading, writing, and research practices and continued professional development.
3. Willingness to teach flexibly within grades 9-12 and to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
4. Genuine passion for and command of subject matter and enthusiasm for working with high school students.
5. Experience and demonstrated success in implementing a scaffolded, organized, inquiry-based, student-centered instructional approach.
6. Design of instruction that encourages students to think and write critically, ask questions, reason creatively, and inspires confidence in their own abilities.
7. Supportive relationships with students, advisors, parents, and families.
8. Engaged participation in the Upper School community, including division and departmental meetings, assigned non-instructional duties, and our advisory program.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Spanish (preferred) or a related field; minimum 3 years teaching experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities of his/her grade assignment. Ability to teach multiple languages a plus.
