Lower School Spanish Teacher

Saddle River Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Spanish teacher to join the Lower School team for the 2025-2026 school year.

Key responsibilities:

• Teach Spanish in grades ranging from PreK3 to 4th grade
• Collaborate to develop a curriculum that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of students in the program
• Plan, develop, and implement creative, rigours, and engaging learning lessons that foster the development of language skills according to school standards
• Clearly and effectively communicate with families about their child’s academic, social and emotional growth and development
• Create a classroom community where each child feels valued as an individual
• Coordinate with the other Lower School teachers and World Language Department members to maintain consistency in curriculum
• Motivate students to participate in various educational activities
• Create a positive, structured, learning and safe environment for students
• Develop and maintain student behavioral and discipline policies
• Accommodate different learning styles and instruction methodology for students’ various learning styles and needs
• Maintain accurate attendance and grade records for each student
• Monitor student activities on school premises and ensure safety of every student in the classroom and school grounds
• Attend educational training and workshops for professional growth
• Integrate technology and current educational trends into classroom practices
• Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees

The ideal candidate will:

• Speak and write Spanish fluently
• Hold a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred)
• Have experience teaching Lower School and world language courses (other relevant experiences will be considered)
• Demonstrate a passion for teaching, fostering student growth, and exploring world cultures
