Job summary

The Mount Vernon School in Atlanta is seeking an experienced Maker/Design/Engineering educator for Grades 9-12 to develop and deliver maker courses. You will help students apply design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and competency-based assessment as they design, prototype, and showcase work.

Ideal candidates will build on four maker labs, collaborate with MADE, Inquiry, Impact, and Innovation Diploma teams, and mentor students through real-world projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• 3+ years of classroom or related industry experience.
• Evidence of making/building practice: portfolio, project photos, GitHub, shop, or similar work.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning for groups of students.
• Connect projects to real-world community impact.
• Design and align unit development across maker courses.
• Collaborate with Lower/Middle School Maker teachers on curriculum.
• Maintain records of performance, progress, and goals.
• Communicate with families and external providers.
• Maintain Upper School Maker Spaces and equipment.
• Inspire students to showcase their work.
