Job summary

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia seeks a dedicated science teacher to deliver chemistry to 10th grade and physics to 9th grade in the Upper School. You will collaborate with a team devoted to inquiry-based science education and student growth.

You will develop lesson plans, assessments, and curriculum aligned with SCH maps, promote student interest in science, and integrate technology while supporting a diverse learning community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or physics (minimum).
• At least two years of experience teaching chemistry and/or physics.
• Strong background in chemistry and physics; advanced degree preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum and assessments; use effective teaching methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Teaches Upper School chemistry and physics.
• Advises a grade-level group of Upper School students.
• Collaborates with co-teachers to develop lesson plans and assessments.
• Prepares course objectives and outlines aligned with curriculum.
• Fosters 21st-century STEM learning and inclusion in the classroom.
• Integrates technology into student learning experiences.
• Administers, corrects, and records assessments timely.
• Differentiates instruction to meet student needs.
• Provides varied formats for demonstrating mastery and timely feedback.
• Maintains classroom conduct and school policy.
