Job summary

Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School in Foster City, CA, seeks an experienced upper elementary teacher (3rd-5th) for the 2026-2027 year. You will lead ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science, delivering a project-based, student-centered program and reporting progress to families.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of lead classroom experience, a degree in education, and familiarity with progressive approaches and LMS tools. California credential is preferred; remote work is not indicated.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of lead classroom experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in an education-related field; advanced degree preferred.
• California Teaching Credential preferred.
• Experience with progressive education approaches (PBL, student-centered learning).
• Experience with Google Classroom, G Suite, and other LMS is a plus.
• Strong lesson planning and curriculum design experience.
• Passion for engaging students and lifelong learning.
• Differentiation for diverse learners in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide an instructional program based on the needs of each student.
• Implement base curriculum and design engaging curriculum using PBL, design thinking, and performance-based assessment.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and teachers.
• Differentiated instruction for diverse learners; assess learning frequently.
• Create engaging lessons and unit plans under supervision of the Assistant Head of School.
• Document student learning and report progress to families.
• Use multi-modal instruction and learning approaches.
• Support respectful school environment in line with policies.
• Provide individualized work plans in collaboration with parents, tutors, aides, and specialists.
• Collaborate with grade-level peers for cross-curricular learning and holistic experiences.
• Engage with parents as partners and utilize support services as needed.
• Utilize technology to advance learning goals; attend staff meetings and other duties.
