Job summary

Shenandoah Furniture in Valdese, NC, part of Hooker Furnishings, seeks a Frame Engineer to design and develop upholstered frame systems. You will create CAD drawings, develop prototypes, and collaborate across product development to ensure frames meet standards and integrate into production.

The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, attention to market trends, and ongoing improvement of frame quality and efficiency in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in furniture frame design and development in upholstery.
• Proficient in Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering or comparable experience.
• Strong communication across cross-functional teams and with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings for upholstered hardwood/CNC frames using Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
• Develop prototypes and test frames with plant operations to meet quality standards.
• Approve frames for first production runs.
• Research market trends to enhance frame quality, efficiency, and visual appeal.
• Collaborate with design, quality, manufacturing, and engineering to integrate frames into production.
• Create detailed drawings for poly specifications and manage lifecycle of the specs.
• Record and maintain specifications, blueprints, and processes.
• Modify existing frames to improve production efficiency and product quality.
• Provide technical support to address production challenges.
