Role Description

The Upholstery Frame Shop Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Conover, NC. This role oversees daily operations in the frame shop, including planning and monitoring production schedules, assigning work orders, and ensuring frames meet quality, safety, and design specifications. The manager leads and mentors shop team members, coordinates training, and promotes safe work practices and efficient use of materials and equipment. Responsibilities include collaborating with design, upholstery, and production teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support on-time delivery of customer orders. The role also involves tracking performance metrics, managing inventory and maintenance needs, and recommending improvements to workflows, staffing, and equipment to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Candidate MUST be proficient in CAD amd know how to operate CNC routers and lathe. Experience in production or manufacturing management, ideally within furniture, upholstery, or woodworking environments.
• Strong skills in team leadership, coaching, and staff development, with the ability to foster a safe, collaborative, and inclusive workplace.
• Proficiency in production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization, including managing work orders and meeting deadlines.
• Hands-on knowledge of frame construction, tools, machinery, and basic mechanical troubleshooting relevant to woodworking or upholstery frames.
• Attention to detail and quality standards, with the ability to inspect frames and materials for accuracy, durability, and adherence to specifications.
• Solid organizational and communication skills, including clear documentation, reporting, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
• Comfort with basic computer and software tools used for inventory, production tracking, and shop communication.
• Understanding of workplace safety practices and regulations, with experience implementing and monitoring safety protocols.
• Ability to stand, lift, and move materials as needed in a shop environment, following ergonomic and safety guidelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training in manufacturing, woodworking, or related fields is beneficial.
• Previous supervisory experience in a factory or production setting is strongly preferred.
